From the "Into the Woods" series, these large(er)-scale paintings explore human existence through the lens of nature, layering themes of transformation, impermanence, and the balance born of duality: light and dark, order and chaos, stillness and movement.
Moving beyond the surveyor's gaze of traditional landscape painting, each piece begins with a photograph of the natural world, cropped and enlarged until the recognizable dissolves into abstraction. These fragments supply the visual and emotional push and pull behind each painting. Paint goes down in alternating bursts of short, controlled marks and broad, free strokes, giving the medium some say in the outcome. Glimpses of bare canvas provide light and the possibility of escape.
Landscape here is not a backdrop but an intimate field of discovery, where the depths of nature mirror both the infinite cosmos and the inner complexity of being human.
